YAMAGUCHI, Japan - A diary written by Mitsuo Ozaki (1902-1985), a Japanese government official sent to Afghanistan in the 1930s, has been found in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The diary suggests that the Afghan government became irritated with Japan over its espionage activities directed against the Soviet Union prior to World War II. It was found at the home of Ozaki's son, Yukinori, in Hofu, Yamaguchi Prefecture.

TOKYO, Japan - Officials of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office enter an apartment building in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on Jan. 15 to search the home of Mitsuo Ozaki, a former secretary to a lawmaker in the House of Representatives who was among seven suspects arrested for allegedly obstructing a public works tender. Yoshishiro Kimura, the mayor of Ishioka in Ibaraki Prefecture is also among those arrested.
